Diabetes Herbal Home Remedies that
Are Worth Trying
by Dr Andrew Napier
Diabetes Home Remedies popularly known as -DHR-
in short refers to local solutions or domestic solutions or rather natural and
proven options to the disease. Home remedies are alternatives known to natives
to the prolonged treatment with drugs and insulin shots. This is a disease
characterized by high blood sugar in the blood and inability of conversion and
movement for storage or modification to any other form due to lack of insulin.
There is an elaborate home remedy of diabetes and
the most prevalent is abstaining from sugar or sugar coated products including
any monosaccharide that is easily available. Quite a tough choice though but it
is of necessity lest more harm is done to other organs of the body. The most
obvious and glairing effects of this disease is the eruption of other much more
damaging conditions to other organs of the body due to high sugar level and
inability for the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin.
Documentation for home made remedies is still a
preserve of certain native traditional rural cultures nonetheless it is from
their science that the many modern drugs have come to exist and thus
appreciated. Many are plant derivatives or herbs; concoctions that are pounded
and brewed in kitchens in Asian and Latin American kitchens. Little has been
documented from Africa unfortunately but that does not mean they are missing.
The much more traditional or home made remedies that have developed with time
and experienced by patients are many and here below I will quote a few for this
article without describing in detail on usage.
Cabbage roots are known to many herbalists as a
great source of herbal ingredients for the treatment of diabetes. There are
juices of perennial plants found in Indian sub continents known locally by
natives that are rich in compounds of vitamins C. Grape fruits, gooseberries
and bitter guard too have been listed as providing medical benefits to diabetic
patients. Specific leaves of mango tree, curry leaves, seeds of parslane and
fenugreek plants play a crucial role too. Parslane is a vegetable found mainly
in Asia; its leaves or seeds are of use to man in treatment of a wide range of
diseases.
